The bayonet was used with a Japanese repeating rifle, which was built by a team led by Colonel Arisaka Nariakira in 1897 (model 30) in 6.5 mm caliber, the improved model from 1905 is designated model 38 (after the 38th year of the reign of the Japanese Emperor Mutsuhito, Meiji).
